SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 30
The Shami tree is worshipped on VijayaDasami, the 10th day of Dussera. Various folk lores refer to the significance of the worship. One of them, in the Mahabharata, state that the Pandavas hid their weapons in the hallow of the Shami Tree before they started their year of living in disguise. They retrieved their weapons on Vijayadasami, the 10th day of Navarathri. Hence the day is also observed as Aayudha Puja.
It is believed that worshipping the Shami Tree resolves their problems, and bring them happiness.
