Temple priests are performing Samuhika Hayagriva Puja on Thursday,
Aug. 18th at 7:30 p.m.. at SV Temple, following Brahmotsava/abhishekam to Hayagriva at 6.30 pm.

This puja will benefit students to succeed in their studies – improve memory power, concentration, removes the fear of exams. Also, it will help working professionals to achieve their career goals.

Temple will provide rest of puja items. Story of Hayagriva Hayagriva is one of the many incarnations of Lord Vishnu. He is worshipped as the God of knowledge and wisdom. By worshipping Lord Hayagriva daily and reciting the sloka will improve knowledge and wealth. According to the Hindu ancient scripts, Hayagriva is the one who performed Aksharabhyasam to Goddess Saraswati. That is why it is believed that whoever performs Aksharabhyasam to the child on Hayagriva Jayanti will flourish well in their education. Students of all ages worship Lord Hayagriva on this day for betterment in their studies too. Lord Vishnu created Chaturmukha Brahma, and gave the responsibility of protecting Vedas as well as creation of all beings. In that process, Brahma was tired and slept for a moment. One of the demons called Hayagriva (that is, one with a horse’s neck – Haya means horse, Griva means neck) took that advantage, and had stolen Vedas from Brahma. When Brahma woke up, he realized that Vedas were stolen from Him. He rushed to Lord Vishnu, and explained what had happened. Lord Vishnu consoled Brahma, and assured Him to bring Vedas back. Vishnu found that the demon Hayagriva was hidden deep in the Ocean with Vedas. Immediately, Lord Vishnu also took the form of Hayagriva as the demon can be killed in that form only, and appeared in front of the demon.
