Naga Panchami, Festival related to Snakes:

The Naga Panchami or festival of snakes is celebrated on the fifth day of the moonlit fortnight in the month of Shravan (July /August) according to the Hindu calendar.

Garuda Panchami, Festival of Garuda(Pakshiraja)

Garuda Panchami is especially bestowed to Garuda, who is known  as Pakshiraj or Eagle God. People pray to Garuda and Puja (worship) is exclusively carried out for him during this day.

In the midst of birds’ family, Garuda is deemed to be Indra. Garuda Drushti and Garuda Dhwani are viewed as an exceedingly forutunate one. Lord Vishnu’s chariot is Garuda, who is involved in the ever-lasting assistance at Vaikuntham.

A statue of snake is placed along while performing Garuda Panchami. The rationale behind this is that Indra bequeathed a varam to Garuda that all the snakes will be his slaves forever from the moment he went to take the amrutam.

Sarpa dosham can be purged by carrying out this Garuda Panchami Puja.

This is an important date for couples wanting children.
