Bala Puja for children 2-6 years, 8:00 pm, Oct 1
Devi Navaratri is a time to bring out the Divine in all of us, but especially the ladies.  It is said that God is neither man nor woman, but if we had to choose, God is more woman than man, because woman has more love, which is God’s essence.  Thus it is appropriate we allocate nine days to worship God in the form of the Divine Mother every autumn.
On the first day of Navaratri, Devi is worshipped in the form of Bala Tripura Sundari Devi Alankaram, and with a Bala Puja for young girls.

Parents are invited to bring their daughters, ages 2-6, for BALA PUJA, at 8:00 pm on Saturday, the first day of Devi Navaratri.  Mothers will want to take part in Kum Kum puja, starting at 7:00 pm – Durga idol given to all Kum Kum puja sponsors.  There is no charge for Bala Puja, where we worship and adore the Divine in each young girl.  Small gifts will be given to each child.  Parents may also bring gifts, tamboolum, cloth to offer to children (optional).  Mothers are encouraged to take part in Kum Kum Puja at 7pm.

Bala Tripura Sundari Devi Puja
We perform ten forms of worship of the Goddess Durga during the Devi Navaratri festival and Vijaya Dashami Day, and Bala Tripura Sundari is the first form.  Bala Tripura Sundari Devi is represented as a 9 year old little girl, a form of the Mother goddess. Tripura means she is beyond rajas, tamas, and sattwa, beyond the relative world. Tripura Sundari could be likened to a sprout full of shakthi. In her adolescence, she becomes Lalitha Tripura Sundari Devi. At her fullest development, she becomes Shri Vidya Shakthi, the mother of the universe. Even though Shri Bala Tripura Sundari is represented as a little girl, she is described as the divine combination of the wisdom of the Goddess Saraswathi, the magnetic energy of the Goddess Maha Kaali, and the prosperity of Mahalakshmi. The sprout has within it the full potential of every aspect of the entire plant.  In this form, theGoddess Durga blesses her devotees with strength, wealth, and wisdom.
A special “Balapuja will be performed after Lalitha Sahasranama Kumkuma Archana.  Children between 2-6 years will be worshipped as a child deity, Sri Bala. Temple invites all girls of this age in a traditional Indian dress.  Our priests and Grihinis, who is doing the Bala Puja, see the Lalitha Devi Herself in these children, and
